50 Years Together in Diversity: Finalists announced
The finalist schools of the 50 Years Together in Diversity School Competition have been selected out of 452 entries representing almost all European countries. The jury, which consists of experts from Museum of Europe and European Schoolnet, will select one winning team from each participating country. The winners will be invited to Brussels to visit the European Parliament and the exhibition “It's our history”. The exhibition is organised by the Museum of Europe that will welcome the winners to Brussels between 21 and 23 March 2008. Each competition entry consists of two parts. Part one is an essay that answers the question "In your opinion, what are the major challenges that the European Union will be faced with in the next 50 years? How can it deal with these challenges?" List of the competition finalists The competition winners will be announced on this website around 15 February 2008. The Museum of Europe will cover their travel cost (flights, train), accommodation (including breakfast) and local transport in Brussels. General information The “50 Years Together in Diversity” school competition is being run by European Schoolnet on behalf of the Museum of Europe. European Schoolnet (EUN) is an international partnership of 28 ministries of education in Europe, providing major European education portals for teaching, learning and school collaboration. European Schoolnet also develops insight into educational use of ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) in Europe, for policy-makers and education professionals. The Museum of Europe is a non-profit association that is jointly chaired by two former Belgian Ministers of State, Ms Antoinette Spaak and Mr. Karel Van Miert, former Vice-President of the European Commission. The Museum of Europe is a cultural institution with the mission of showing Europeans the roots of their common civilisation, and aims to build a Museum of Europe in Brussels. “It is our history: 50 years of European Adventure” is the inaugural exhibition of the Museum.
