School competition: Winners announced

European Schoolnet and the Museum of Europe are pleased to announce the winners of the 50 Years Together in Diversity School Competition. On 6 February 2008, the jury - which is composed of experts from the Museum of Europe and European Schoolnet - finalised the evaluation process. The competition prizes consist of a group trip to Brussels to visit the European Parliament and the exhibition “It's our history”, between 21 and 23 March 2008. The trip is sponsored by the Museum of Europe.

The school competition aimed to raise awareness about European cultural values, the milestones of European integration and the 50 years of unity in diversity. The competition enhanced and supported European citizenship education in schools, in the year when the European Union turned 50.

The participating teams of students submitted entries that consist of two parts. Part one is an essay that answers the question "In your opinion, what are the major challenges that the European Union will be faced with in the next 50 years? How can it deal with these challenges?" Part two is a visual composition that focuses on the theme "Europe in our daily lives".
